In just a few months it will be 22 years ago that I sought after and surrendered my life to the Lord Jesus Christ. He heard my cry, and He did what Mary, Mohammad, Buddha and the pantheon of the Hindu gods couldn’t do. In fact, He did for me what no other could do, He saved my wretched soul from an eternity in a flaming, burning hell (Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved – Acts 4:12). Where I have failed Him (and boy have I ever failed Him), He has always been faithful and Just. Where I had been faithful, He has been ever more abundantly faithful.
He gave me the free gift of eternal life and an eternity in heaven (For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9). Thank You Lord Jesus for saving a wretched soul as mine. I look forward to that day where I can hold onto and rest at the feet of my Savior and look upon His face! He’s waiting to give that free gift to you as well. We ALL come short of God’s standard for perfect righteousness. Some might be more moral than others but, as someone has said, the best of men are at best still sinners (For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God - Romans 3:23). The only thing that can pay for sin is death (For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. – Romans 6:23). None of our good works, baptism, going to church, giving money, etc., can save. They can’t pay that debt. But God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9) and has provided life through Jesus Christ. He is the only way to heaven. Why? Because of what He did for us. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us – Romans 5:8. The Lord Jesus Christ took our place (1 Corinthians 15:3). He is our substitute (Romans 5:6-8). He suffered for us (1 Peter 3:18). He became sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21) and He took our sins in His own body (1 Peter 3:20). All He asks is that we repent (change our mind toward sin and Jesus Christ) believe and call on the Lord Jesus Christ, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved – Romans 10:13. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved – Romans 10:9 Will YOU call upon the Lord Jesus Christ, like I did 22 years ago? Will YOU accept the free gift that He has waiting for you and invite Him into your life? I pray you do and do it today, for the Apostle James warns us, Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away (James 4:14). |
